Writer Wanted For Online Game: Hero’s Journey
May 16th, 2007 by DanO
There are rare opportunities to get writing gigs on video games. They do exist and I’ll be doing a write up on that facet of SciFi writing later this year. In the meantime, an online fantasy based video game, Hero’s Journey, is looking for a quest writer. The game is still in development and the position is unpaid with a chance for payment when the game launches.
Here is their post:
We are once again accepting new applications for Content Writers.
If you are a creative, self-starting writer interested in contributing to a rich and deep fantasy world, consider joining our Story team. Content writers are responsible for writing and designing quests, wyr, heroes, in-game storylines, and background lore. We need talented folks who understand how to craft incisive, compelling, and dramatic scenarios while maintaining a cohesive voice with the team as a whole.
Simutronics is seeking highly motivated individuals who want to devote their talents and passion to developing the hottest MMPORG going. If you have excellent writing skills and a good imagination, then you might be what we’re looking for. And you won’t have to leave home to do it.
The ideal candidate has experience with games, a lively imagination, good spelling and grammar skills, is highly organized, team-oriented and exposure to a programming/scripting language.
This is a great way to flex your dialogue chops while designing the compelling content that us video gamers love to consume. And it could be a way deeper in to the Video Game industry if that is a goal of yours.
Also, I can’t tell for sure, but this looks like a telecommuting gig.
