Writing for Comics: Submitting to Dark Horse
Jun 6th, 2007 by DanO
You’ve probably familiar with Dark Horse Comics titles and didn’t know it. The U.S.’s third largest comic book publisher has published well-known titles that have been made into movies such as Sin City, Hellboy and 300. They also take movie and television properties and make them into comic book series, such as Alien, Buffy and Star Wars.
But they are also looking for original titles to publish.
The first thing you should know is that they do not accept submissions for their licensed titles. So if you have a hot idea for a Buffy comic, you’re out of luck. However, if you have an idea for an original series, limited or on-going, they would like to hear from you. And by "hear from you", I mean send in a written proposal with a synopsis of the storyline, sample script pages and a signed submission agreement.
An explanation of each one of those requirements can be found on their Writer’s Guidelines page. That page also includes links to script formatting templates, the submission agreement and, if you have further questions, to their Submissions FAQ.
Make sure you brows their current titles to see what kind of comics they publish.

Just stopped by to see your blog-site and I must say I love it.

You’re a writing Fool.
I’m enjoying this immensely.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope to increase my posting activity a little more. If you want me to focus on a certain area of SciFi/Fantasy writing, let me know. I’m still feeling my around about what works and doesn’t on the site.
