Free Screenwriting Seminar in Los Angeles, Sat. June 23
Jun 21st, 2007 by DanO
I just learned about this last night when I was at the Writers Guild panel on Writing For Video Games (which I will be writing up soon.) StoryLink and The Writer’s Store are holding free-to-attend screenwriting classes in Los Angeles in two days with some of the biggest names in screenwriting instruction:
- Ellen Sandler (Emmy Nominee and Co-Executive Producer of Everybody Loves Raymond. Author, The TV Writer’s Workbook)
- Dr. Linda Seger (Author of Making a Good Script Great & Creating Unforgettable Characters)
- Pilar Alessandra (Script Consultant, Director of ‘On The Page‘ and former Sr. Story Analyst at DreamWorks & Radar Pictures)
- Michael Hauge (Author of Writing Screenplays That Sell & Selling your Story in 60 Seconds)
- David Freedman (Agent & Owner of ‘Hollywood View Agency’)
- Kathie Fong Yoneda (Former Executive with Disney, Touchstone and Author of The Script Selling Game)
- Karl Iglesias (Consultant and Author of The 101 Habits of Highly Successful Screenwriters and Writing for Emotional Impact)
- Viki King (Author of How To Write A Movie in 21 Days)
- Blake Snyder (Author of Save The Cat)
This is part of their Great American Pitchfest series. On Sunday, you can pay a fee to pitch you story ideas to buyers, but it’s not necessary to sign up for that to participate in the free Saturday classes. However, signing up for Sunday does guarantee you a seat at Saturday’s activities, which is otherwise first-come, first-serve.
If you live in Los Angeles and serious about screenwriting, you can’t miss this opportunity. It’s also a great chance to meet other up-and-coming writers. Networking is something I’m trying to get better at myself.
