Screenwriting Contest Deadline: Shriekfest 2007
Jun 23rd, 2007 by DanO
I wish I found this one earlier as the final deadline is today, June 23, 2007. But it’s still worth taking a look at their site.
Here is how they describe their event:
Shriekfest is a festival and screenplay competition dedicated to getting horror/thriller/scifi/fantasy filmmakers and screenwriters the recognition they deserve. What makes our festival unique is that we love filmmakers and screenwriters! The whole point of our festival is to help out the filmmakers and screenwriters. We just want to celebrate the art of independent filmmaking without all of the politics!
The winning scriptwriters will receive $1000 in cash and placement with InkTip, a service that gets script loglines in front of industry professionals. There are some additional awards listed here. You may submit a feature length screenplay or a short film screenplay. They also have a category for screenwriters under the age of 18.
Like the International Horror and SciFi Film Festival out of Phoenix, AZ, it is still worth your time to attend in September, even if you don’t get your script in. Networking is one of the most important skills for a screenwriter to have.
