More Disney/ABC TV Writing Fellowship Bios
Jun 25th, 2007 by DanO
The Disney/ABC TV Writing Fellowship deadline is in one week. If you haven’t started, now is the time to write your bio, a very important part of the selection process. Last week I found a link to last year’s bios and today I found the bios for the 2005 & 2006 winners. You can check them out by going to the Writing Fellowship home page, then click on the Gallery submenu. That will give you three years worth of bios to peruse.
I also want to answer a question here that was asked of me last week. An applicant was concerned that he had no writing credits to list in his bio. Neither do I, but I noticed many bios didn’t talk about past credits. Instead they focused on their passion for writing and for televisions, like this one:
Michelle McGee
Michelle McGee is a Chicago native who realized her dream of writing at the tender age of five. Growing up, Michelle was known for two things — being a tattletale and an obsession with television. After graduating from Columbia College, she spent several years as a scheduler at Total Living Network. Her submission to the Fellowship program was a spec episode of My Name is Earl entitled How Joy Got Her Groove Back.
So don’t be discouraged if you don’t have a long list of writing credits to wow the judges with. They are looking to help newcomers as well.
(Disclaimer: I do not work for this Fellowship, nor do I have any insider information. This is simply advice to consider from one applicant to another.)
