Disney/ABC Fellowship May Ask For 2nd Spec Script
Jul 2nd, 2007 by DanO
Over at the TVWriter message boards, an applicant who made it to the semi-finalist round in November was surprised to learn the Fellowship wanted to see a second spec script and they wanted it mailed in two days! So if you applied to the fellowship, make sure you have a second spec ready to go in November. Even better than a second spec would be an original pilot to send in. Either way, don’t get caught without one in November.
Ouch! That’s harsh. Was there any indication that this might be expected in the original submission instructions? Really, how many people have more than one spec script running around? It’s like if I submitted a novel to an agent, and after he said he liked it, to say that I needed to turn in another in order to be considered. Oucharoo!
Did you apply to this one Dan? It’s amazing that they’ve already picked people for the semi-finals. That seems like a fast turnaround.
There was no indication that I could find. Someone just reported today that it happened to them last year. If you are trying to get staffed on a show, you need more than one sample anyway, so it’s not so surprising that the Fellowship would ask as well. Though it would be nice if they gave you some kind of heads up.
The semi-finalists won’t be picked until November so everyone has time to polish up that second script.
What about this year? Did they keep it going despite the strike? Anybody know what the status is for people who applied last summer?
